An important English Regency chinoiserie cabinet on stand, the cabinet with reeded top mould and inverted breakfront form, the doors decorated in high quality lacquer work depicting noble figures in traditional Chinese dress alongside trees, boats and into the background buildings, mountains and skies with borders of cross hatching and foliate panels. The interior fitted with an arrangement of drawers and central doors enclosing pigeon holes, all repeating the same charming decorations and executed with superb detailed scenes in preserved bright colours. The base with tapering legs and scroll stretchers with further lacquer decoration. In excellent original condition, circa 1820. Provenance; from the estate of Colonel Hubert Pritchard of Pwllywrach Manor House, Colwiston, South Wales, married to the daughter of famous novelist Agatha Christie, who was a frequent visitor of the house. 74” high x 38” wide x 19.5” deep
